Are you Eligible for the SSS Maternity Benefit?
SSS Membership -- Voluntary Members, Self-Employed Members
Philhealth Maternity Benefit
If you're due on July or Aug 2013, your semester of contingency would be Apr to Sep 2013, and the 12-month period within which SSS will check if you have contributed 3 monthly contributions and within which to choose your 6 highest monthly salary credits is Apr 2012 to Mar 2013. I hope you have your MAT1 already stamped by SSS -- this should be done before delivery.
Can I still pay for my last year's (2012) contributions if I'm self employed?
Thanks,
Laurice
Another thing is if you started as a paying SSS member only in March 2013, you cannot pay for Jan and Feb because you were not yet registered in Jan 2013. Puede lang magbayad as Employed if registered by employer, or magbayad as Self-Employed if RS1 form is filed and approved by SSS. Puede lang ang Voluntary after na-Employed or self-employed.

*and they're computation is P 10, 833.33
*my computation however is P 14, 000.00
Please help.. thank you.... :)
Your 6 highest contributions and salary credits are:
nov 2013 - 686 - 6,500
dec 2013 - 686 - 6,500
jan 2014 - 780 - 7k
mar 2014 - 780 - 7k
apr 2014 - 780 - 7k
Jun 2014 - 835 - 7,500

Hi marivic, yes, you can pay and be eligible, but what you can get is only half of your benefit, since what you're allowed to pay this May is Apr to June. It would have been better if you have paid Jan to Mar.
Pay as Voluntary. After paying, wait for posting (about 2 to 3 days) then register at sss.gov.ph so you can check your status. Check if you have Date of Coverage.

If I pay april to june 1,040 per month, how much would be my maternity benefit?
Nora
Hi marivic, if 1,045 is more than 2 levels higher than your previous contribution, declare that your monthly income is around 9,500 (lower portion of RS5 form).
If you pay 1,045 every month for that quarter, your benefit will be 9,500.
hi! my last contribution is march 2011, before i worked as ofw. was not able to contribute since then. am i still eligible to claim maternity benefits? my due date is april 2014. is it possible for me to pay for this year so i can file for my maternity claim? thank you.

Hi marnie, pay for Oct to Dec 2013 asap, this Jan 2014, so you
can avail. Pay as OFW so they will let you pay. Pay abroad or if you're in the Phils, bring your OEC or OFW ID or overseas job contract. For other member types, the payment deadline has passed, and payment for Oct to Dec 2013 will no longer be accepted.
Then check later if your payments are posted for the months of Oct to Dec 2013. If posted correctly, file your MAT1 asap, before delivery. You would get only half of your benefits because you've paid for only 3 months within the relevant time frame.

Hi good evening. Expected date of delivery is july 2014, so is my semester of contingency the semester 2? was able to pay for 12 months when i worked from dec 2012 up to nov 2013, then by dec 2013 i resigned. By january 2014 i went to sss to change to voluntary so i can continue paying. Am i qualified for the maternity benefit? Will they ask me requirements other than mat1 and mat2? Looking forward to your reply. Thank you!

Hi Divina, yes, you're eligible for maternity benefit. Since
your delivery date is within 6 months of your
separation date, SSS might require you to submit certificate of
separation with separation date, cert of non-advancement of maternity benefit and 2 sheets of L501. See this: SSS maternity benefit documents
Hi, would like to ask if i'm qualified for mat benefit. Edd is nov or dec 2014. last sept 2011 was my last sss contribution payment. Thank u

Hi kim, you can pay Apr May June 2014 so you can qualify. To get your full benefit, if the last digit of your SSS ID no. is 7 or 8 or 9 or 0, pay also Jan to Mar 2014.
Were you employed before? If not, did you register correctly as self-employed using RS1 form before? Or as OFW using OW1 form? If not sure, verify your member status at SSS.
my last payment is sept. 2013 and my EDD is march 2014. do i need to continue paying until march 2014 to claim my benefit? end of contract

Hi sam, if your EDD is March 2014, your semester of contingency
is Oct 2013 to Mar 2014, and your 12-month period (basis of 6-
month computation for benefit) is Oct 2012 to Sep 2013. You have the option not to pay until March, and still be eligible for your benefit. Refer to notes above.
How much is your benefit? Add your Jan Feb Mar salary credits. Divide by 180. Multiply by 60 (for normal delivery; 78 if CS). That's your benefit.
hi miss nors! i would like to ask if i can avail a maternity benefit.my edd is dec 2014 i already filed my Mat 1 last sept. 2014 and they accepted and stamped it. Since then I haven't paid any contribution. Can I still get my benefit? TIA!
Hi Catherine, based on your note that the SSS accepted your MAT1 form, yes, you can avail of your benefit. Do you have at least 3 posted contributions within July 2013 to June 2014? If yes, then you're eligible for benefit.
Thank you for your response miss nors!appreciated! yes i paid my contribution from jan 2014-june 2014. Those were only the contributions I paid and did not contribute since sept till now. Can i still avail of the benefit? miss nora if I can avail, how long can I claim my benefit? thanks!
Hi Catherine, yes, you can avail of maternity benefit. Processing time is about 1 month. Plus about 2 weeks for your registered mail to get to your address. Register at sss.gov.ph so you can track your claim later on. Register after midnight because the website is busy during the day and it's still being improved.
good day. my edd is june 2015. i started work just last nov 2014. 1 year I had no work so I don't have contribution since nov 2013 to oct 2014, but prior to that, I was a member since may 2007. by the time I give birth, I would have paid from nov 2014 to june 2015, so total of 8 months. Am I eligible for maternity benefits? My company did not accept my MAT1 because they said I should have 12 months contributions from the time I give birth. They said I should have 3 months of contributions before I got pregnant and not before I give birth.
ANSWER:
Hi mhai*life, sad to say, what your company told you is correct. They just did not explain the SSS rules properly. They simplified it in their own way.
If you'll give birth in June, your semester of contingency is Jan to June 2015, so SSS will look for at least 3 contributions within Jan 2014 to Dec 2014. You lack 1 month.
If there's a possibility that you'll give birth in July, so you'll qualify, you can register at sss.gov.ph so you can file your MAT1 online. Inform your HR too.
June 2014
July 2014
Nov 2014
Dec 2014
Will this be enough to qualify for mat benefit since you said that they only need 3 months from Jan-Dec 2014 or does it have to be 3 consecutive months?
Thanks!
may sss npo ako at di nhulugan ng mtagal.
ngayon pong january nag hulog ako ulit as voluntary.kse gusto ko mkapag claim ng maternity benefit..
tama po ba na ung payment ko until jun ang macocover s computation if october 2015 ako manganganak?
and isa p pong tanong sana..ngbayad po kse ako ng 495 from jan. to apr. pwede po ba ako magjump into higher contribution pag huhulugan ko ung mga succeeding months..example po from P495 jump into 1760??
pls.enlightened me po..slamat po
Hi po. I have sss but have not paid for a long time. This January I paid as Voluntary because I want to claim my maternity benefit. Is it correct that my payment until jun will be considered for computation if I give birth in october 2015?
I paid 495 from jan. to apr. Can I jump into higher contribution if I pay the succeeding months? example po from P495 jump into 1760? pls.enlighten me po. Thank you
ANSWER:
Hi shin shun shu, yes, your payment from Jan to June will be considered for computation. For May, pay 605 and for June, pay 715. If you pay the maximum, pay at SSS and use RS5 so you can fill up the income portion of the form. Be ready to present proof of your increase in income if SSS later on asks you about the big increase in contribution. I don't know if SSS benefit officers always ask for proof, or if they'll just consider whatever you write on RS5.
If my edd is last week of January 2016 or first week of February 2016, what are the months I should have paid contributions for so I can claim my sss maternity benefit?
ANSWER:
Hi Cristy Tan, your semester of contingency will be Oct 2015 to March 2016. SSS will look for at least 3 contributions within the 12 months before your semester of contingency, meaning at least 3 contributions within Oct 2014 to Sept 2015. SSS considers your 6 highest contributions within this 12-month period to compute your benefit.

Hi Jovie, your prior 12-month period is from Jan 2015 to Dec 2015. Yes, pay your contributions asap for Oct to Dec, so you can qualify. You can still pay for July to Sep if the last digit of your SSS no. is 7 or 8 or 9 or 0 (pay at SSS; Bayad Center does not accept payments for previous month or quarter).
*My contributions are only April to September 2015.
If you give birth in Dec 2015, your semester of delivery will be July to Dec 2015. SSS will consider Apr May Jun (3 months only) in the computation.
Yes, you will be eligible if you pay only Jan to Mar, but you will get only half of your benefit. Try your best to pay today, so you get your full benefit.
The reasoning behind this is SSS will consider your 6 highest contributions within Apr 2015 to Mar 2016 in computing your maternity benefit.
I just a few questions for you. My EDD will this July 2016 but there's also a chance that it will be on June 2016 (June 30). My last contribution was March 2015. I tried to check my Maternity Eligibility in SSS online and its says "Maternity Claim application will be rejected due to NO contributions payments for 12 months prior to semester confinement." What should I do ? Should I pay the months of Apr to June as well? And how much can I get? Thank you.
If you give birth in July, your semester of contingency is Apr to Sep 2016, and SSS will look for 3 to 6 contributions within Apr 2015 to Mar 2016. If you have none, then you're not eligible for the benefit. Sorry but the deadline for paying Jan to Mar 2016 has already passed. Ask others too.

Nag voluntary contribution po ako start August 2015 up to now. My expected delivery po kc is march 4,2016 but na emergency cs po ako kaya feb.18,2016 p lng nanganak n ko. Kinulang n po ako ng 1 month contribution. Pano po b ung gagawin para maavail ko p rin ung maternity benefits ko?
Ms. Nora, I've been paying voluntary contribution po starting August 2015 up to now. My expected delivery po kc is march 4,2016 but I had emergency cs po, so on feb.18,2016 I gave birth. I lack 1 month contribution. What should I do so I can avail of maternity benefits?
ANSWER:
Hi Rovie, sad to say that even if you gave birth last March 4, you still lack 1 month, and sorry that you're no longer allowed to pay for any month in 2015. There are payment deadlines.
By the way, did you contribute to SSS as an employee before Aug 2015? Or were you self-employed before? Because if August 2015 was your first time ever to pay SSS and you paid as voluntary, your payments are not valid. If Aug 2015 was your first time ever, comment again, so I can give some advice.
employed po ako pero last hulog q po January 2015.5 months n po akong pregnant my expected delivery Aug 1 or last week of July.pde p po b aq makapag maternity?Anu po b dpat q gawin.?
maraming salamat po...
Gud pm Ms.nora. All of my contributions were remitted when I was employed. last contribution was January 2015. I'm 5 months pregnant. my expected delivery Aug 1 or last week of July. Can I avail of maternity? What should I do? thanks a lot
ANSWER:
Hi mherly, your semester of contingency is Apr to Sep 2016. SSS will look for 3 to 6 contributions within Apr 2015 to March 2016. Pay ASAP Jan to Mar 2016 so you can avail of half of your maternity benefit. Pay on or before March 31. After payment and posting, file your notification. Register to have your online SSS account so you can track your benefit.
Thanks a lot po. Do I pay Jan to March as voluntary because I'm no longer employed? How much? If I pay 330 po, 990 for Jan to March, how po is my maternity benefit? Can I pay higher for Jan to March?
ANSWER:
Hi mherly, yes, you pay as Voluntary. Pay at SSS; use the Contributions Payment form. Yes, you can increase your contributions as much as you can. If you pay 330 per month, your benefit will be 3,000; if 440, it will be 4k; if 550, it will be 5k; if 660, it will be 6k, and so on (this is for normal delivery).
Now to be sure, before you go to the SSS cashier, go first to the SSS officer at the counter, and ask if you can increase your contributions to what you want. There's a new circular that says any Voluntary member younger than 55 can increase SSS contributions to any amount, but it's still good to ask the SSS officer.
Hi gud pm mrs nora. please help regarding my wife's maternity. She worked january 2014 up to january 2015. Sep was noted on the form which could mean separated. Then when we returned to get mat2 and all the requirements, they told us we could not claim anything because our contributions were not updated. They should have told us we could not get anything when we filed MAT1, or they should have notified us we needed to pay at least 3 months so we could have paid. We didn't know we needed to pay. She gave birth Apr 2016. Can we pay so we can claim the benefit? We planned to use the benefit to pay off the money we borrowed for her CS. We promised to pay using the maternity benefit. We badly need your thoughts about our case. Thanks a lot in advance.
ANSWER:
Very sorry, as that's the policy of SSS. To qualify for the benefit, SSS requires that your wife should have paid at least 3 contributions within Jan to Dec 2015 because she gave birth in Apr 2016. And you'll no longer be allowed to pay for 2015 contributions because there are SSS payment deadlines. The deadlines have passed. The one who stamped your MAT1 form should have checked your wife's records first before stamping it. But if you'll complain now, they will point out the rules written on the MAT1 form that you filed. They'll say read Nos. 1 and 3. Sorry about it. You can ask for financial help from the offices of your local officials. Bring your hospital receipt.

Hi Miss Nora. My Due date is on Jan 16 2017. Do i still have time or am i already late if i want to voluntarily pay so i can avail sss maternity benefits. Thank you.
Have you paid SSS as employed or OFW or self-employed before? Is this your first time ever to pay SSS? If yes, register as self-employed first. This is how to start paying SSS as Self-Employed Member.
3 months x 6,500 = 19,500
19,500 / 180 days = 108.33
108.33 x 60 days for Normal Delivery = 6,500
Your maternity benefit is 6,500
The bigger your payment, the bigger your benefit. You can choose any amount. Then later on, pay also for July to Sep on or before Sep 30. Must be on or before Sep 30 because Oct is part of your semester of contingency.
Your semester of contingency is Oct 2016 to Mar 2017, so contributions for this semester is no longer counted. But if there's a possibility you give birth in Apr 2017, it's wise also to pay for Oct to Dec 2016, so you can have 6 months considered in the benefit computation.
thanks po!
About your husband's SSS, sorry, hindi puede yong ganon sa maternity benefit. Maternity benefit is only for women members, yong member mismo dapat. God bless din.
If you pay July to Sep, hindi ito mabilang for your maternity benefit computation kasi nasa loob ito ng semester of contingency mo (July to Dec).
Ilang days po ba ang posting? and pwde po bang sa mother ko na lang ipaprocess yun mat1 ko since I already filled it up. Need ko po ksi mag bedrest e. Thanks again.
I Got confused id i am eligible with maternity benefit.
nakakakita ako ng mga site na ang semester will be 6mos. before the date of deliver.. (example july2016 delivery date.Semester of Contingency will be feb2016-july2016 )
so the 12 months prior to that must be feb 2015- jan. 2016
date of delivery ko po is july 2016
and i started paying sss nov 2016
i hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance..
Did you mean you started paying Nov 2016? or Nov 2015? Kung meron kang contributions from Nov 2015 to Feb 2016, qualified ka for maternity benefit. If you paid March 2016, SSS will consider Nov to Mar (4 months) in its computation.
and i just confirmed it with sss officer :)
Im confused po kc..this august 3 na miscarriage po ako pero kakaumpisa ko lng po sa new work ko nitong july & ang last na hulog ko po sa sss was January 2016 from july 2011.. actually nung 2005 pa po ako.member paputolputol lng po ung hulog... paano ko po kokompyutin? Tnx po
1st sorry for your lost too.
to help you pwede.mo po sya ma check sa sss site. kung naregister mo na ung sss no. mo
nadun na nakalagay kung magkano ung magiging benefit mo.
I have my first delivery last december 16 2013 and SSS via my company paid my maternity benefit without problem
last february 18, 2016 i had miscarriage and again SSS via my compay paid my maternity benefit without problem (i sent D&C reports etc..)
now i am 8/9weeks pregnant and my next due is March 19, 2016. our company applied online again my SSS Maternity benefit but the system error says:
- EXPECTED DATE OF DELIVERY and DATE of LAST Delivery interval should be at least 6 months" and can't continue the maternity notification.
does this means I am NOT ABLE to CLAIM MATERNITY BENEFITS?
and you mentioned that u have miscarriage feb of 2016.. maybe that is the reason why the system says your delivery must be 6 mos. interval .
2017 rather...
so does means i will not able to claim again for my 2017 delivery?
Your first notification most likely was rejected because they entered a wrong year (2016). Notice that Feb 2016 and March 2016 are just days apart while Feb 2016 and March 2017 are 12 months apart (which is surely compliant with their 6-month gap rule).
I have access the online of our company's SSS and I am the one who are filing maternity benefit of other employees including myself... I encoded right (March 19, 2017) and Date of Last Delivery/Miscarriage = February 18, 2016. and the problem error says
"EXPECTED DATE of DELIVERY and DATE of LAST DELIVERY INTERVAL SHOULD BE AT LEAST 6 MONTHS"
and the application cant push tru... :(
October 02 ang due date nya..would it be possible na maclaim nya yung maternity loan nya?
Thank you
Pag Dec 2016 ka manganak, dapat meron kang at least 3 contributions within July 2015 to June 2016. Pag Jan 2017 ka manganak, dapat meron kang at least 3 contributions within Oct 2015 to Sep 2016
Sinabi kong "about" kasi depende rin sa kung the same contribution amount ka per month or different amounts.

Im really hoping for your reply po ma'am. Would just like to ask, I was employed oct 2010-sept 2015 and had sss contribution. But when I resigned up to now I was not able to continue my contribution. I am pregnant now and due on April 22, 2018. Am I still eligible for maternity benefit if I’m going to pay now? Also Ma’am, I know I was able to make some loan before and made payment for a year. Does my contribution for 5 years already cover my loan? Thanks a lot Ma’am. Hoping for your sooneat reply.
This is Jane and I have read your comment, just want to help you because I've been hired and gave birth same month as you are but last 2014. I wonder why your company is claiming that your not eligible for maternity benefit of SSS, that on my case my company they did though it is bit lower than those who completed the 12 months contribution prior to due date, as I remember I received 25k from our company. Maybe your company has issue with SSS or not yet remitted your contribution. You can check your contribution online to verify and you can also check if you are eligible or not for the Maternity benefit.
Hope this help.
Have a nice day!
So meaning, I'm not entitled to any maternity benefits..
Another thing, I read an article im facebook group that I can still claim a maternity benefit even our child is already 6 or 10 (as maximum) year old. Is this true? If it's true, what are the guidelines of sss in this matter?
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much and more power 😊
Section 4. Frequency of the Grant. -- Maternity Leave shall be granted to a qualified female worker in every instance of pregnancy, miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy regardless of frequency.
My tanong po ako.
I gave birth last dec 2019
I was employed since 2014 up to april of 2019.. If tama po un pag kakaintindi ko un pag kukuhanan po ng bracket is july 2018 - june of 2019?? For matben? Entitled po ba ako kahit april - dec 2019 wla akong contribution.
Thank you po mam
2 months lang ba talaga ang nabayaran mo within July 2019 to June 2020?
Yes, 70k, basta tanggapin ang payment mo for July Aug Sep at mai-post as payment for July Aug Sep at mabayaran mo this Nov or Dec ang para sa Oct Nov Dec. Kung Oct Nov Dec lang ang tanggapin at maipost (pede pa ring bayaran this Nov or Dec), 35k ang benefit mo.
gud evening po mag aask Lang po ako late filing po ako ng mat. Ben. ko. may expected date of delivery is December 30,2018 peo napaaga po panganganak ko which is November 17, 2018 employed po ako from June 2013-may 22,2018 and then nag voluntary po ako from July - Dec 2018. Now my question is am I qualify for maternity benefits mam hoping for your prompt repl for my concern mam Thank you very much happy new year mam godbless po😘
Kelangang kumuha ka ng certification of separation from employment at certification of non-advancement of maternity benefit at L-501 form, kasi within 6 months yong delivery date mo sa last day of employment mo.
